E-Education
Introduction:
E-education combines all forms of
electronic learning and teaching. It serves everybody and resolves a lot of social problems, spreads
knowledge and different learning experiences among the whole world. By using and
implementing the technology that is developing every day.
Part1:(early history)
It’s very surprising to know that
online education or any materials offered over the Internet that provides
instruction has been used by students long before computers became popular. Scientists first created a
classroom linked with computer terminals in the 1960s.but that was not the real
start the start of widespread e-learning, as it began in earnest in the 1980s. “In fact, the concept and practice of distance
learning predates the computer area by almost 100 years” (Aranda ,2007). At that time
corporations and companies started using computer programs to train their new
employees, but the technology was very limited at that time. The invention of
the Internet helped spread the practice efficiently. However, the first method
of online education was not efficient as it is today.
Part 2: (development)
Between the mid-1990s
and the year 2000, computer technology and the Internet grew at a rapid pace. Students
can now access not only text books, but also images and videos that can be
uploaded by the instructor.Multimedia changed the way we use the Internet by
using microphones and video cameras. All this helped students access materials
and communicate with their instructors in so many of different ways. It’s also
possible to have a live feed class that can makes you feel that you are there
with the teacher. Moreover the student can deliver and submit his assignments
by email without the need to print it or go to the class to submit it.
Part 3 : (modern development )
These days
e-education has exceeded new levels and developed in so many ways .It’s as easy
as clicking a button to find unlimited learning clips that teaches you how to
do anything on sites such as YouTube. In addition, almost every college in the
whole word uses e-education in some way, either in searching for libraries
resources or tutoring online like we have in our college, via Blackboard Vista
or using online exams. These take less time to correct than many other forms of
manual marking and are 25% cheaper to administrate. Not only that, in UAE there
is also universities that work only with online system education, like Hamdan University
in Dubai. However, IT is going to increase and all aspects of life will use it
more and more from smart phones to washing machines.
Conclusion :-
In my opinion I think that online education will keep developing along
with the development of technology .However, everything has its advantages and
disadvantages and that depends on the way we use the material and on the person
himself and how he can use this tool. Blended learning uses a combination of e
learning and face-to-face instruction so this incorporates the best of both
worlds. However, learning styles vary from person to person and so do teaching
styles. Some people react badly to e-learning and think that education is
already a difficult process without adding another dimension to information
seeking behavior.
