Summary 2:-
The Masdar Project
Abu Dhabi is planning to build a wind farm near to Saudi Arabia, but the problem is that the Gulf is not a windy area. The turbine makers are designing an advanced blade to generate more energy and they have to be done with their project after nine years because “The Government announced the 7 percent  base by 2020“ ( Dr Olaf Goebel).
Also, Mubadala is developing already two of its commercial –sized which being built, they are Shams1 and Nour1 the solar projects.
“The plant, which is still at the early stages of assessment, would produce 100mw” (Yee, 2011).
The plant would begin sending power to the grid after two years later. The wind power is more challenging to develop in the GCC than the solar energy, and in the UAE is limited because the nature of the wind. The proposed plant will take at least $200m to be build, according to Masdar’s estimates, and it will require a similar subsidy to move forward.
